Style & Spaces

Reflecting the cute nature of the cottage is a quirky, yet practical lay out. Downstairs you sleep and upstairs you live. With windows in three out of four walls and the lounge opening onto a delightfully sheltered garden, there is no lack of outside living. From the old stable yard, the original barn door opens into the lower bedroom, a comfortable, well-furnished room with high ceilings, natural slate floors and carefully selected lighting. Leading into the bathroom, a powerful monsoon shower behind the walk in screen is decorated with a falling Moroccan Mosaic and beach stone floor, complete with underfloor heating. Going upstairs, the open plan living area features a cosy wood burner, vaulted beam ceilings, exposed stonework and a traditional stable door leading out to the middle terraced garden. The kitchen, fitted into the lower eaves is cute and compact with oven, fridge, hob, microwave and sink. The cottage has wifi, and TV with Sky. Throughout the Hideaway, a variety of decorative floor lamps, feature lighting and the logburner compliment the light nature of the cottage, helping to create the perfect mood throughout the year. Four windows facing three orientations include a glass sided dormer looking south west along the coast and the split stable door with views up towards gardens and leafy slopes beyond.

Gardens

From the upper level lounge, walk out to the Hideaway's sun trap - a cosy cobbled area with a dining area ideal for enjoying a glass of wine whilst catching the late afternoon sun. When it is too hot, climb the steps to the Victorian walled garden. Relax on the upper deck and admire the views looking south over the Hideaway and out to sea. The Nun's Rest - the ruin to west of the garden was a chapel used by the Nuns when East Dene was a convent at the beginning of last century. The window is typical of the gothic style used throughout the estate, its twin can be seen in Carmel, again with a southerly aspect a little further up the lane.
